Help me give my students Easton 1820 Aluminum Arrows, bow rests, replacement strings and cables. Keeping our equipment in tip-top shape keeps everyone safe and shooting their best.
My students attend middle and high school in our small community. Both schools have over 40% of the students eligible for free and reduced lunch. Archery is an activity that allows all types of students to get involved. Students have really embraced the archery program started at each school. In addition to participating in the PE programs, all interested students have an opportunity to practice and tryout for each school's archery team. Students practice their skills for approximately 4 weeks, before participating in a competition-style tryout. I have had hundreds of students participate each year in this process and our middle school program had its most winning season yet, this past year.
As we continue to 'aim' for success and the safety of our archers, we need new Easton 1820 aluminum arrows for competitions and cables, strings, and rest sleeves to perform maintenance on our school bows.
My Project
The arrows and bow parts needed to maintain our school bows are expensive. In order to keep everyone safe and competing to the best of their potential, we need to regularly replace our arrows for practice and competition. Also, we need to keep our bows maintained by replacing arrow rests, cables, and strings as they show wear and tear.
Our archery season usually begins in November and runs through the end of April but COVID19 has delayed the start to our season - so while we wait, we have time to replace arrows and perform bow maintenance to make sure our archers "Aim for Safety"; in more ways than one.
So, being able to properly maintain our equipment is vital to the success of our program.
We are able to keep out-of-pocket costs to students low, by keeping school bows and arrows maintained and available for student use.
In order to maintain our bows, we need to replace strings and power cables, as they become damaged or frayed. The arrow rests on the bows get replaced often to keep our shooters aiming for the bullseye. Sometimes, it is a quick fix, with a rest sleeve.
The arrows we use for our program are specific, per NASP guidelines, are expensive and we use a lot of them! We use older arrows for practice, as long as they are straight and maintained.
