Aiding Flexible Seating, Physical Education and Rainy Day Recess
Help me give my students equipment for physical education (they love soccer but don't know how to play yet), educational games for indoor recess, and materials for flexible seating (clipboards and floor cushions).
My class is wonderful: they are curious, intelligent and very active! They are ecstatic about math number talks, studying mealworms and love dancing. As class at a Title 1 school in Oakland, we build community as we eat breakfast together every morning.
Most of my students are from Oakland, but their families come from all around the world.
Over half of my 28 students are bilingual as they speak another language besides English at home. Many of my students walk to school every day and have siblings in our school.
My Project
I am in charge of teaching P.E. for at least 50 minutes a week. I play soccer and many of my students have expressed a strong interest to learn how to play. So the soccer balls and cones will allow us to learn how to play soccer!
On rainy days, I'll have 28 of energetic children stuck inside the classroom, so these educational games will help channel my students' energy in a fun way, while still learning.
Students have flexible seating and may sit at the front carpet for independent reading and math. The cushions and clipboards will make that more comfortable and practical.
