Our classroom is fortunate enough to be receiving new French literacy materials in the upcoming weeks. We are excited to be able to use them to help us become better readers and writers!
My students are in a dual language French/English Kindergarten program in New York City.
The students in my class are bilingual and French language learners. My classroom is a French immersion classroom, where students receive all of their instruction in French. Our school is dedicated to providing a literacy and content-rich curriculum in both languages.
My Project
My students need storage organizers and bins to store new books and materials in the classroom. Currently there is not enough storage in my classroom to accommodate all of the new French leveled texts and audio books we have been fortunate enough to order. With additional storage organizers, students will be able to access literacy materials in an organized and efficient manner. This will be very helpful during small reading groups or during independent reading time.
Students are currently learning how to employ all of the reading strategies they have been learning throughout the school year (sounding our words, finding sight words, looking at the picture) to help them read leveled books.
With the addition of new leveled texts as well as places to store them, students will be able to continue their journey in French literacy!
