Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager beavers, full of joy and looking towards life with great wonder. The motto of the glass half full fits my students perfectly; they possess the potential to grow with every new day. Many of the students come to class ready to get the day started, whilst others find it difficult to get into the routines of being in school. It is a lot to process and can become stressful.
They are full of energy and quickly run out of fuel halfway to the going home time.
My students are hardworking but are behind a grade or two. They have a hard time trying to cram all their daily activities in while still trying to learn what they are missing.
My Project
My students are hard works, but lack motivation to complete reading tasks. Many of my students struggle with reading English and really need a push to encourage them to read. I would love for my students to be able to earn prizes for completing their AR goals for the month. It would be a nice reward to thank them for all their hard work and dedication to reading.
Squishes help relieve stress and can keep students calm and relaxed.
Many bilingual students become upset when they are unable to read basic level words. I can see the struggle on their faces and hope to relieve some of this stress through rewards. Kids love shiny prizes such as pens or pencils. I'm also requesting cute headphones and pillows; things that my older students might enjoy. I am also asking for healthy international snacks for my students to try. We live in an amazingly diverse society; however, many students never get the opportunity to try foods from other cultures.
