The Agency robotics team is a student-led group of motivated, enthusiastic high schoolers with a shared passion for all things STEAM.
These inspired students oversee all aspects of robot production from beginning to end including design, fabrication, programming and fielding.
Our youth spend countless hours outside of their course studies contributing to the team because they value the collaboration and skill building this experience affords.
Alumni from our team have continued their study of science and engineering at colleges such as UCSD, Cal Poly Pomona and San Luis Obispo, MIT, UCLA and Georgia Tech.
My Project
The Agency is entering its 10th competition season this year, and we are in need of donors to help us reach our goal of building twin robots for our local FIRST competitions in southern CA. Over the years our team has always taken pride in being a competitive force by maximizing a modest budget. We stick only to core needs and though our yearly operating budget is usually under $15,000, we regularly advance to the finals going head to head against organizations with 3-4 times the funding.
Your contribution will make it possible for us to build twin robots, one for testing/modifying and one for competition.
We have learned that this is the most effective way for students to get the most of their robotics season since they can better utilize precious practice time before the meet when the competition robot has already been "bagged, tagged and delivered" for judging.
Additional funds to support two robots will allow students to trouble shoot design weaknesses before competition and brainstorm last minute improvements which are essential to advancement within the meet. Two robots means more hands on learning time for every student involved in our program.
In Their Words
“Robotics has been important throughout my high school career to lead and learn and when I see a robot take shape I feel a sense of belonging and accomplishment.”
“I’ve been part of two other robotics programs before this one, but with The Agency I have learned much more about fabrication, CAD and coding to name a few. I also get to be with kids who are just as excited about robotics as I am. I I now know I want to pursue mechanical engineering in college."
