Our school is located in the heart of ranch country. My students are used to the hard work and determination that is associated with ranch life. These students require hands-on learning opportunities and real-life application to all concepts taught in my classroom.
I serve about 75 students in the Agriculture Department at SBHS and about 20 in the Ag Processing and Technology class.
These students work hard during their respective classes to learn the AFNR standards while exploring career options in the Agriculture Industry.
My Project
We need equipment to allow opportunities for students to have hands-on learning exposure in the Food Products and Processing system. Students will learn how to make yogurt and cheese during our Dairy Unit, identify/process different cuts of beef in our Beef Unit, and identify/process different cuts of pork in our Pork Unit. Students will have the opportunity to make sausage and jerky in class and will learn proper grilling techniques for each of the different cuts of meats.
Hands-on learning of the AFNR standards is crucial to student success.
Having this equipment will allow students to experience the content more in-depth and at a higher level of understanding.
