Help us get out of the stone ages and into the 21st century! We need updated technology in our after school program so that students can do research for homework and other activities.
My class is made up of Kindergarten through 5th grade.
We consider ourselves one big family. Most of the students attend Discovery Club five days a week, twelve months a year from K-6th grade. Our school is an open philosophy school which strives on hands on learning and independent study. We are one of fifty plus programs in the San Juan Unified School District.
My Project
With a tablet in the classroom students can be independent learners. Older students will scaffold information researched to the younger students and technology will be more portable. In addition, there will be an increase in motivation to learn. Most students use technology at home and are more willing to use a technological device than a paper and pencil. Overall, the use of a tablet will be a start to teaching 21st century skills and update our classroom technology.
