My Students

Our school will see many changes this year. School is a safe place for our students. They know when they come to school there are lots of people who love them, there is plenty of food, and teachers will make sure they have everything they need. We are a high poverty school and many of our students live with grandparents or other family members. Making kids feel safe and comfortable will be one of the main concerns!

Toys are a great things for a child, but a toy that entertains and educates is the best kind of toy!

They love the library because they have the chance to build and created things and listen to great stories. I would love to give them the opportunity to play and learn about coding.

My Project

We implement computer science standards in our weekly library sessions. We do lots of unplugged coding activities. The library does not have anything that can help them learn coding in such a fun way, like Botley the Coding Robot.

Jobs in the coding field go unfilled every year.

I want to give my students experience in this growing field at a young age. Fun activities now can turn into careers in their futures. I want students to be prepare for their lives after school is over. Even if they choose a career in another field, working on coding is a fun way to learn and can transfer to other skills.
