Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom, like many others, has been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. My students and I left for Spring Break and will never be back together this school year. '
I teach Reading to 60 second graders, and what I miss the most is taking our adventures together through the love of books.
During this pandemic my students who have access to the internet (through phones, tablets, or computers) are having to watch videos of me reading books and teaching my reading lessons. I also offer live instruction and try to meet each week for a fun Google hangout. Not all my students have access to technology, and it makes our connection even more difficult.
My Project
This project is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in my student's learning from home. This project will get a brand new Flat Stanley book in each student's hand, as well as a flat Mrs. Wells to take adventures with. The materials are a book for each student, and materials to help me print, laminate and send a picture of myself (Flat Mrs. Wells) from home.
This project will create adventures from home, spark creativity, and help make a difference in their learning!
Along with the new Flat Stanley book, I will send a choice board where the students can take adventures and take pictures of themselves with me (Flat Mrs. Wells). It will bring us just a bit closer during this difficult time.
