My Students

To live will be an awfully big adventure- Peter Pan

The fourth grade students in my neighborhood school are a spirited, enthusiastic group of children who work hard on academics and behavior all year.

They strive to use their leadership skills to be respectful, collaborate on projects, solve problems, and serve as role models for lower elementary students. Throughout the year, the children set academic and behavior goals, and use a program which helps keep them aware of their progress. After a year full of expectations, the children will have the opportunity to challenge themselves to create a new set of goals in an activity outside of the classroom.

My Project

This project will take the goal setting skills they have learned in the classroom and put them to use "outside the box." The children will participate in an aerial forest ropes park, which gives the children the chance to experience their unique potential.

By pushing to reach certain personal achievements within the course, self-confidence is built and strengthened.

The course expands climbers comfort zones and introduces situations that are not possible in the classroom.

The children can set their own goals of what they’d like to achieve, and proceed at their own pace through a variety of trail levels.

This also provides a unique opportunity to support their classmates and help encourage others to reach their goals.

With the support of generous donors, the fourth grade class will have the opportunity to use their goal setting abilities!
