My students are creative and love engaging with new art materials. Many of my students are excited by drawing anime characters or stylized lettering. I enjoy seeing great drawing students find other media that spark their interest. They are able to use their drawing skills and transfer them into sculpture, fiber art or painting.
The students at my school are a diverse group of learners who are curious about the world.
They live in a suburb of Little Rock, Arkansas. Some are from more rural areas and some more urban. They all work together and learn to appreciate their differences.
My Project
My students will paint landscapes using tube watercolors. Students will learn about foreground, middle ground and background, as well as the horizon line. They will mix colors to create mood. They will choose an urban or rural setting. They will write about their work when finished.
I would like them to have an experience using more professional paints.
I think this will help them feel more grown up and take more pride in their work. It will also create a situation in which they must mix colors.
I would very much like for my students to have this experience. The leftover paints could be used in future projects. I appreciate your consideration.
