This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative outside the box thinkers. They chose the Advanced Manufacturing class because we go from idea to creating finished products. They are students that want to turn educational experiences into real world application. These young women and men are some of the leaders of our student body.
The 10th graders are introducted to the question, what is Advanced Manufacturing?
The 11th and 12th graders dive deeper into the career pathway available in today's manufacturing because of technology.
My Project
In the advanced manufacturing course at West Side, student study all aspects of manufacturing. In the first year class, students complete online course covering an overall of today's manufacturing industry. The second year class has students completing an online course in one of five technical occupations, Safety, Quality, Drafting and CAD, CNC lathe and CNC machining technicians.
In addition, students have hands - on, minds -on projects throughout the course where they are givien real world problems that must be solved by creating products.
On most of the projects, the students use the lone 3D printer available to create they final product. The addtion of another printer would greatly increase the amount of time and qualty the students could put into their work.
