My students need more books in our classroom library that are within their reading levels. We need a bigger variety for the advanced readers in order to strengthen their knowledge!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a wonderful school with excited, motivated students. They always inspire me with their love of learning. Our school has a majority of high socio/economically disadvantaged children. We are a Title l school with many cultures represented (mostly Latino and Vietnamese). I truly believe in our motto of "preparing all children as global learners."
Although many of our students come from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, we strive to never let this come between us and our successes!
Many of the students live in neighborhoods that tend to be unsafe and underprivileged which causes a lack of opportunities. I hope to give these students as many resources as they may need in order to become successful both in and outside of our classroom!
My Project
Having additional books in our classroom library that are within students' reading levels is crucial to their advancement in reading. We have a very small selection of advanced books in our classroom library, and at times it is difficult for these students to find books that are appropriate and within their reading level. Although students may be reading at 6th, 7th, or 8th grade levels, many books in those levels are inappropriate for their age range.
Students need the opportunity and access to books that both challenge and interest them, all while still being appropriate and exciting.
These books are classic library collections that will build students' excitement and momentum for reading. These students are already advanced readers, so they need continuous access to books in their advanced levels in order to stay motivated and keep their love for reading.
