My Project

My students are determined to learn their music for percussion ensemble and for band, and frequently come early and stay late to get practice time on their instruments. There is a significant pay wall that students have to overcome to buy their own mallet instrument, with most starter kits starting between $500-$1500. The keyboard instruments that I have found fit the basic requirements of a good instrument for students to at least learn notes on.

Having time alone to practice is crucial for success, but uniquely difficult for students that play large instruments that are cumbersome to transport.

Giving students the opportunity to work at home, even on a smaller instrument with different sound quality, can really give students a leg up in rehearsal. These instruments will also be very useful for students who may be struggling.
