My Students

2nd grade is such a wonderful age group to teach. I teach a group of 23 seven & eight-year-old students. These students are filled with kindness and compassion. The past two school years have been filled with so much uncertainty for these students. It's sad to think that they have never experienced a "normal" school year. I'm hoping to be able to bring some security and "normalcy" to their 2nd grade year.

My Project

My 2nd grade students have never had the opportunity to go on a field trip due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. This project will allow them to have the opportunity to connect to an animal through an unique learning experience without ever leaving our classroom. The class will receive an animal certificate, photographs, animal fact sheets, virtual encounters with the adopted animal, and a virtual classroom experience. The class will choose from three different animals to adopt, a macaw, a kinkajou, or a prehensile-tailed skink. We are looking forward to a "wild" experience!
