Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students' thoughts and artwork are trapped on paper on shelves in my classroom. Although the students have excellent ideas, we do not have the software that will enable the publication of these works of art.
My students come from mostly Spanish-speaking homes.
They are first generation middle and high school students. Over 95 percent of the students in my school qualify for free and reduced lunch, and most do not have access to computers at home. They strive for college yet come to our school with lagging vocabulary. By creating compelling print and web publications, our students will entice their peers to read these relevant stories.
My Project
We have been making do with free software we find on the Internet. But these free tools crash frequently and do not provide my students with the professional skills they will need in college and in their careers. With this Adobe software, they will be able to publish their artistic, poetic, and analytic thinking for the world to see. By using this software, our publications will open the eyes of the community to my students' great potential.
I have seen my students create beautiful works of art and writing with just paper, pencil, watercolors and brushes.
Combining these foundation skills with this Adobe software, my students will blossom as they see their ideas reach out into the world through professional publishing tools.
