This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am teaching an urban Title 1 school. The majority of the students receive free or reduced lunch. I also have ELL students that would benefit from being closer to the visuals provided on the Smartboard.
My students have a lot of potential and learn best when actively engaged in their learning.
They are very active and eager to learn. The students are proud and encouraged from their achievements so far this year. They are eager to use the Smartboard more effectively. Having comfortable seating will enhance their classroom experience.
My Project
The Smartboard is attached to the wall in a corner and is not mobile. This makes it very difficult for the students to use and/or see the activities using this great form of technology. If our room had an area carpet my students could move close to the Smartboard by sitting on the rug in front of the board using clipboards to participate and/or complete lessons. Students are currently unable to see from their desk due to the design of the room as well as the location of the Smartboard. This would help students be more comfortable and actively engaged in their learning. This would also allow proximity control as my students would be closer to where I am teaching.
