Additive Manufacturing Through STEM

Help me give my students who are learning the importance of 3D printing and prototyping in manufacturing. We will be using the 3D printer during design challenges and other CADD related projects.

My Project

Through our Pre-Engineering program students explore many different types of engineering. Engineering requires a lot of planning and prototyping to achieve finished results. Iterations are also a large part of the engineering design process. Iterations refer too the redesigning and recreating of already designed models for their improvement.

Our rapid prototyping and iterations are completed through additive manufacturing or 3D printing.

Students explore and continue to learn these hard skills which make them well-rounded students and more marketable for post-secondary education/workforce.

We will use a variety of Computer Aided Drafting and Design programs to create appropriately scaled prototypes that will be physically created using the 3D Printer.

I will also be adding a CADD elective next school year that will allow us to use this machine further and reach a larger demographic of students.

I chose this machine because it includes a lot of special features that other machines may not have. This includes a filament run-out sensor, auto leveling system, dual Z-axis rods, and a full-color display.
