The students in my class are determined, daring, dreamers. They are inquisitive and curious about the world around them. They are engaged learners that can't wait to explore the next tidbit of knowledge. Everyday is an educational adventure with them.
The students in my class are the leaders of tomorrow.
They are problem solvers. They are very technologically savvy and use their digital devices to explore the world around them, gather information and seek ways to use their knowledge to make a difference in their homes, school and community.
My Project
In my classroom the students are in charge of their learning. They are given a "menu" of assignments to independently manage and complete throughout the week. They learn the important life skills of time management and responsibility through this type of learning. Fifty percent of the items on their menu incorporate digital learning. Since each student moves at their own pace, chances are high that because I have more students than devices, they may not have access to a device when they need one.
This can be frustrating for a student and could derail their time management and motivation.
The Kindles that my brother donated and I purchased are wonderful and the students enjoy using them. More of these devices would keep the "fire" in their independent learning time.
