My Students
Do you remember what it was like to learn new and exciting information in school? Books can transport readers to places they have never been before. It opens up a world of experiences.
My students are energetic and passionate about reading. They love exploring our classroom library searching for books that spark their interest.
Our school community is located in a high poverty, urban setting. At our school, approximately 96 percent of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches. We are entering our third year as a turn around school and our students are already making remarkable progress.
My Project
Books are essential for driving student learning. Many of my students have not had the opportunity to travel outside of their neighborhood. Therefore, they have not had as many worldly experiences. As a result, having nonfiction books that allow them to have those experiences is priceless.
My students are thrilled about reading and discovering new information in books. The books I requested will not only help my students become better readers but they will also help my students build a vocabulary as well as a knowledge base.
