My Students

I teach 15 amazing first graders who come to school every day eager to learn and ready to work hard. These students come from diverse backgrounds and their unique experiences allow them to all learn from one another. This is an incredibly kind group of kiddos who are constantly looking out for each other and supporting each other academically and socially. First grade is a year of so much growth which is both exciting and overwhelming for students. As their teacher, I am always looking for the best way to provide instruction and present the curriculum to keep them engaged in developing an understanding of new content.

In addition, our students are held to high standards to become role model citizens that take care of themselves, others, and the world around them.

As a micro-society school, we focus heavily on the HEART strands (humanity, ethics, aesthetics, reflection and trust) to ensure our students become conscientious and compassionate individuals. I know that they are already well on their way to achieving wonderful things! They are deserving of the best and therefore I will do my best to provide them with all the materials they need to succeed.

My Project

Hands-on, student-centered learning is so important in helping young minds learn the challenging concepts of math. Providing students with a variety of visuals and engaging activities will allow them to not only be more excited about math but also develop a deeper understanding.

The first-grade math curriculum allows students to learn the foundational skills that they will be using for the rest of their educational journey and beyond.

Math can be a challenging, abstract subject for many learners. However, it is critical that the students learn and are confident in these skills. These tools will enable our hard-working first graders to create a more concrete understanding of these essential skills.
