Help me give my students the joy of arts and crafts! Using bright colored papers as part of creative tasks that are tied directly to the curriculum always helps my students get excited for their work.
My students and I are partaking on the journey of their first year of school! Our year will be full of intellectual exploring and celebrating successes as we grow into readers, writers, and curious thinkers.
The diverse students in my class will come together and learn as a supportive learning community.
I teach my students to take ownership of both their individual learning and the learning of the entire class by emphasizing the ability of one student's understanding to help another student reach that same understanding. A deep rooted respect of each other's learning styles will characterize my students' ability to pursue knowledge in a flexible, student based curriculum. Through it all, my students will be having tons of fun and fostering a love of learning!
My Project
Our Kindergarten curriculum includes many projects that allow the students to combine academic skills with their creativity. Often we will work on math or writing activities that include an arts and crafts component. Examples include projects where students have created a snow globe on the construction paper and practiced their math skills by manipulating the snowflakes or projects where students create a robot with the construction paper and then write about their robot.
These projects almost always include construction paper.
I have witnessed firsthand how having an assortment of colors to choose from really gets the students excited about and proud of their work. I would love to be able to provide my students with construction paper and add that much more joy to our days.
