This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school every day excited to learn and grow as scholars, despite all the struggles they endure. One hundred percent of my students come from low-income families, and most have experienced trauma in their lives. Our classroom environment is focused around creating a space where my students feel safe to learn, explore, and be themselves unapologetically.

My students are resilient, intelligent, and the future of our community!

Our school is located in the heart of the community, which makes it a special place. The beauty and richness of the community has been overlooked for decades due to gang violence, poverty, and drug abuse. My scholars will have to defy these negative perceptions throughout their academic careers. I want to help each of my students build a successful foundation that will last as they continue on their academic journeys.

My Project

Throughout the school year, my students write numerous personal narratives and informational books. They learn the characteristics of different texts and how to add their personal touch. Publishing day is a joyous one for my scholars. They carefully edit and revise their work in order to get it ready for the audience to read. They take pride in seeing their story completed and displayed in the class. Having a printer with extra ink would allow my students to print their work and make it look fancier than ever!

By donating to this project, you will not only help my students publish their stories, but also allow their creativity to come alive through their pictures.

My students take many pictures, some silly and others about their observations in nature, their community, engineering projects, and as a tool for creating visual art. It would be incredible for them to have these pictures displayed in the classroom as part of their work to show others their perspectives. Having a printer would bring so much color to our classroom!
