My students need to maximize their independent small group time, and improving our classroom library, as well as giving them more hands-on activities, will help them be more productive and successful!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our future is brighter because of what we are pouring into our students today. The students I have the privilege of teaching everyday are young, eager to learn and highly energized kindergarteners. Most of them come from poverty stricken neighborhoods, but they have a resiliency that pushes me to give even more of myself. My students are unique; they are very determined, they are little curious sponges; and they are the driving force of my classroom. They deserve the best!
My Project
If given the opportunity, all students can soar! These items can give my students more tools needed to equip them to soar to the heights they are capable of. With them learning how to read, they need as much practice as they can get. Our class library is functional, but limited. These books will help the students have more books to read inside the classroom. While in small groups, the letters will help with building developmental reading skills, and the ten frames, coupled with what is currently working in the class, will strengthen their math skills. The manipulatives will help with their mathematical confidence. Small group time is crucial in developing the skills taught. Once the students have learned skills and practiced in their groups, confidence is forged and they feel successful. This is accomplished best in their groups. They need more materials for groups. These materials can help my students tremendously!
