Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with special needs students. I also work with regular education students who may need extra support to help them succeed in academic and behavioral needs.
My school is a Title 1 school, which means we have a poverty rate of 82%.
Our school was greatly effected by Hurricane Harvey. Many of our students were and still are displaced. Some have been living in hotels for months. School is a place not just to come and learn, but where they know they are safe and will be feed and loved. We are a safe haven during this difficult time.
My Project
We need new tables that are not only attractive to look at, but are also functional and help us learn. Group tables allow the teacher to sit and work with small groups and teach lessons while closely monitoring students work.
In my special education classroom, I have myself and a paraprofessional that will be working with several small groups through out the day.
We will be working hard to bring up their academics and help them be successful. Having the proper materials such as the group tables and matching stacking chairs and teacher chairs will help make our room successful.
