My students need bouncy bands for their classroom chairs to be able to sit comfortably, and provide them with the ability to move, bounce and wiggle during learning.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first grade in a school that serves an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse population. My students begin school with an amazing amount of energy and enthusiasm for learning.
First graders need to be provided opportunities to move during their learning.
I work hard to honor and respect each of my students' unique self, and continually work to bridge the gap of their various experiences. To me this means embracing, and creating an environment where students can work to reflect on who they are, and have access to specific tools to focus their learning as well as support them as they continue to grow and learn.
My Project
My 6 and 7 year old students move and wiggle continually. It’s both a natural and healthy part of growing both physically and mentally. If students are expected to sit for long hours in school chairs, shouldn’t we make the sitting experience as healthy, and supportive as possible? I want my students to be in comfortable and healthy sitting positions as they learn new skills and concepts during the school day.
Bouncy bands give the students the ability to place their feet in a healthier ergonomic position.
This creates a better alignment for their hip and knee joints all the while providing for the natural/necessary movement (wiggling) that helps reinforce their focus and concentration time.
