In my Specialized classroom, I have 8 Kindergarten students with varying disabilities, such as Autism, ADHD, and Global Developmental Delay. Each student in my room learns at their own pace and in their own way, and they overcome challenges each and every day. They continuously show the world have brave they are and how hard they work to be the best learners they can be. These 8 students are extraordinary children who define strength, passion, and determination. They make me very proud to be their teacher! With their varying needs comes various resources our classroom needs to benefit the students as learners. A few of the students need constant sensory input, or communication devices, or frequent breaks. Any resources we can get funded is greatly appreciated by myself and the students in my room!
My Project
Many students in my classroom have difficulty with attention and focus on work tasks or non-preferred tasks. They tend to need to bounce in their chairs, stand up and sit back down frequently, and use fidget objects to keep their focus on what is asked of them. With this adaptive seating, students will be able to actively participate in work while moving their bodies. This seating also calls for minimal distraction to other students and would greatly benefit the different needs of the creative learners in my classroom. Having this adaptive seating would help my students gain confidence as learners while still helping them with sensory input needed to focus!
