My students need adaptive scissors as they have special needs to assist with their classroom projects and we only have three left handed scissors to share.
Our students have special needs and we are working so hard to have them reach their goals and to be participating in a classroom with their general education peers. They want to participate amongst their peers to the best of their abilities but sometimes need extra help.
My students attend a preschool with both a general education and special needs population.
They want to participate amongst their peers and complete art activities just like their general education peers. We also do not have enough left handed scissors and frequently have to share between classrooms. It becomes difficult to share the minimal left handed scissors amongst 5-6 classrooms with 10-17 students in each classroom. My students love to use their scissors but at times have little strength due to their diagnoses and cannot open and close the scissors on their own. They need the adaptive scissors (spring open scissors) to take away some of the challenge.
My Project
Our students will greatly benefit as they will be able to participate in the classroom activities (art projects) all on their own. They can use the adaptive scissors to cut all the holiday projects on their own and not worry that the teacher has to do all the cutting. They can feel independent and proud of their hard work. Our left handed students can feel independent as well and not be confused by the right handed scissors.

Our children with Autism, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, etc can then participate to their best ability in our every day classroom activities. They will be so happy of their own work. They want to do their best. Our students will not fall further behind in their academic and fine motor development as they will be able to catch up and be independent.
