My Students
My students with special needs have a wide range of skills and many different challenges. I need equipment that will strengthen the variety of skill levels in my Adapted PE classroom.
My special needs student have many different disabilities.
For example: students with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Other Health and Orthopedic Impairments.
My students are very sweet and eager to learn new and innovative things. They try hard at every task and skill taught to them. They are willing to try new activities that will help them raise their skill level. They come from a variety of backgrounds and are mostly low income. Overall they are really nice hard working students that deserve quality equipment in their Adapted PE environment.
My Project
In my Adapted PE class, the students need to work on eye-hand coordination, eye-hand accuracy, and social skills. They need two different types of Bocce ball sets, a soft plastic set for students who need more work on gross motor and strength control and a regular set for students who have mastered the plastic set. My students also need a ladder toss and ring toss to work on eye-hand accuracy. Through these stations, student will be able to gain confidence in their eye hand coordination and eye accuracy. They are also working on their social skills when they have to communicate with their small group with turn taking and rotation to the next station.
