This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My amazing students benefit tremendously from face to face, hand over hand support. While our district has established a wonderful virtual platform for distance learning, what my students and their families need most are hands-on activities, books, and other school supplies at home that are designed for their specific needs.
My Project
I can read stories, review lessons, sing songs and talk my students through activities online, but nothing compares to hands-on work for my students.
Due to the unique nature of my content area and the multi-tiered needs of my students, I have to have specially designed, adaptive curriculum for my students.
By sending home chunky colored-pencils and crayons, tracing skills practice workbooks and activities and social stories about positive behaviors, my students and their families will have hands-on materials that they can adapt, enjoy and revisit again again as needed to reinforce these important emerging skills.
