My students are awesome preschoolers with some special needs. They are mostly on the autism spectrum, and so while they are working on learning pre-K skills, it helps them to have some supports to make it easier on their busy bodies.
My kids work so hard all day to meet their goals.
They are sweet and fun, and love coming to school to learn and play with all their friends. They love to sing and dance at circle time, and they really enjoy listening to stories. They make some beautiful artwork, too!
My Project
My students have varying needs, so I have a lot of different things in the classroom to help adapt the day and try to anticipate issues with learning before they happen.
My classroom is set up strategically to make sure that distractions are minimized and students have lots of different strategies to use to be able to reach their goals and learn the best they can.
When everything is out and in view, it can be really distracting for my kids, especially at circle time when they are meant to be paying attention to what's happening in front of them, and might have downtime where they are waiting their turn. So, I use classroom dividers and timers to help students keep attention where it needs to be and be able to know when it's time to transition in a concrete way.
Right now, I don't have quite enough dividers to have everything blocked off like I want, and while I do have one timer in the classroom, I would like to have various ones easily accessible at different parts of the classroom so teachers don't have to walk around trying to find the one they need.
