My students need additional yoga mats, relay race batons for the track team, corner flags for the soccer team, nets for pickleball, and a book for me to learn new games!
Each sports team at our school has the potential to do great things. By obtaining additional equipment to support each team, they have an increased chance of being successful.
Our school is made up of 900 Kindergarten-8th grade students.
Many students come from low-income households where healthy eating and activity is not a concern. Our students are always eager to try new things and look forward to being in 5th grade so they are able to participate in the after-school activities that our school offers.
My Project
The equipment we are requesting includes additional yoga mats so we can have a classroom set of mats for physical education, relay batons for the track team to practice hand offs before meets, corner flags for the soccer teams to use during practice to make the corners of the field more visible, 3 pickleball nets to maximize participation in the sport of pickleball, and a book to aid in my teaching when needing to have physical education in the classroom. By requesting these items, after school soccer and track and track and field have the opportunity to take their teams to the next level. The yoga mats and pickleball nets will provide additional opportunities to remain active in physical education and to try new activities they may not be familiar with. There are also many times when we are not able to use the gym and it is difficult to come up with activities to play in the classroom. The book will provide additional ideas for activities we can play given a smaller space.

A classroom set of yoga mats and 3 new pickleball nets will enhance each students experience in physical education and encourage the learning of new activities. The sport teams can finally have the corner flags and batons that they have needed for many years to practice and become prepared before a game or meet. By requesting this equipment, each student has the chance to add one more thing that they enjoyed about school.
