Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is made up of 19 amazing learners. They come to class ready to learn despite the obstacles they face prior to stepping foot in the classroom. We are a Title I school and almost all of my students are English Language Learners.
My students love coming to school because I make learning fun.
I work hard to provide a safe and loving classroom environment.
My students work hard each and every day but unfortunately, they need supplies that our school budget does not supply. This includes healthy snacks and outdoor equipment.
My Project
"Recess is boring!" said no student ever. Wait! My students just said that! "What can we do about that?" I asked them. We sat down and brainstormed what would make recess more exciting. "Soccer!" one of my girls said. "I wish we could play soccer!" Then the other students started chiming in with bubbles. "Mrs. M, I really wish we had a soccer net!"
Hence, my "kid inspired" project!
My students have requested a soccer net and bubbles to stay active for over 60 minutes a day.
These materials will be used at recess and any free time the students get during the day. The entire school, including my students, will be active for more than 60 minutes a day!
"Mrs. M, how long until snack time? We're hungry!" I frequently hear my students say! "It is a long time between lunch and snack time, isn't it?" I replied. "What can we do about that?" "Do you have any snacks?" they asked me. My kid inspired grant includes pretzels, animal crackers, and goldfish crackers for my students to eat between lunch and snack.
