My students have big personalities! There is a huge mix of diversity in my classroom, including students coming from all-day kinder and 1/2 day kinder, first generation Americans, and ESL.
The one thing they all have in common is that they are achievers!
There are a lot of academic expectations in first grade, and my students do not have a lot of access to items that may help them succeed, however this does not deter them - they all have a growth mindset!
My Project
First grade is a time where students start working independently especially during skilled based groups.
The materials requested will help them gain skills and knowledge in both Math and English.
While also helping them gain self-confidence in knowing they can solve problems independently.
Students need time to gain skills with their teacher, but they also need the time and materials to practice those skills. The items I am requesting will help them take their previously gained knowledge, apply it, and gain a greater depth of knowledge. From a work area like the SURF PORTABLE LAP DESK and SitSpots Numbers 1-30, to a place to put their work (Storex Book Bins) display it (High Strength Aluminum Two Piece Ceiling Hooks for Drop), this project will help fulfill that.
Reading Skills Folder Game Libraries, Dry Erase Pockets, Learning Resources Magnetic Learning Letters, Lowercase Letter Tiles, Wooded Scrabble Tiles Letter Tiles, and Beginning Blends Curriculum Cut-Outs will help students in their Phonics rotations.
Listening First Headphones, writing utensils, Interactive Notebooks Word Study, and Press Depth of Knowledge will help them in their writing rotations.
Working with the Rekenrek, Pop & Add Games, Zinnor Wooden Building Blocks, and Dominoes Rekenrek Game will help thme in their math rotations.
