Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Pre-K students are very busy 4 and 5 year olds. We have learning centers every day, so that students can learn as they play.
My Pre-K classroom is a blend of general education, special education, and English as a Second Language students.
They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and many come from low-income families. However, we are a high-performing school that is eager to inspire the love of learning at an early age! For many of my students it is their first school experience.
From the first day forward, I aim to create a strong foundation for each student's education and instill a joy of learning, so that they continue on with positive experiences.
My Project
Learning in Pre-K is very active. Building fine and gross motor skills are an important part of Pre-K. The materials in this project are all hands-on, active materials to make learning fun. Time spent in building with these blocks will enhance cognitive flexibility and stimulate students' creativity and support problem-solving strategies. I have included outdoor blocks to improve student playground experiences. I know my students will love the addition of these large blocks on the playground. I also included a Design & Create Drill kit that will support fine motor development for students as they create designs and drill. With both of these materials students will develop their motor skills while having fun!
