We are a STEM school in Orlando that focuses on hands-on activities and cross-curricular projects. My students come from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds, creating a very diverse classroom experience. As a result, their learning styles drastically vary. Despite their differences, they all love to experience learning through hands-on experiences. I teach many lower-income students, who have little resources at home.
My students motivate me to get up every morning and create lessons that I know will positively impact their day and future.

My Project
My students need basic classroom materials in order to operate in the classroom successfully on a daily basis. The dry erase boards will be used as we dive into math, reading & writing daily. Dry erase boards create a fun and engaging way to promote learning. The boards will also be used to write and solve math word problems. One side will be used for math, the other side will be used for literacy. These boards will help my students become more involved in their learning. It will also help create pride and ownership in their learning. I promote learning from our mistakes and these boards will help students to practice skills as well as erase and try activities again if necessary.

Right now, when students complete weekly assessments, we are using laminated folders which do not operate properly for student privacy. Adding privacy folders to our classroom resources will help reduce distractions during classwork and assessments. In addition, the privacy folders will help students focus on their own work. Clipboards will be used during small groups, writing workshop, and math workshop. Having clipboards will also allow us to work outside of the classroom (weather permitting) without the worry of losing our valued work.
