My students need a Magnetic Alphabet Fishing Set, a Letters Beanbag Set and a Magnetic Alphabet Maze to enhance their creative hands-on learning environment.
Pre-K offers an essential foundation to every child's academic development. Our students need to know the letters and sounds of the alphabet, count up to 50 and write and recognize their name, as well as other academic criteria. Donations will allow our students to explore in a hands-on environment.
Our Pre-K classroom consists of 3 and 4 year olds who are eager to learn.
For many, this is their first classroom setting and our students are flourishing. Some of the students are non-English speaking, while others are very fluid speakers. Many speak no English at all, nor do their parents, which can make communicating difficult, but all are involved in their child's educational success.
Our students are a kind and caring group of children who enjoy hands-on learning and are excelling in all academic areas. Our school houses over 900 students, many of which are living below the poverty level. We also have a large population of non-English speaking students; many of whom come from refuge camps, displaced housing and are in foster care. We have a very experienced staff who always put the needs of the students before their own. The children are becoming better students, as well as better citizens because of our faculty and staff.
My Project
The donations from DonorsChoose will be very welcome in our classroom and will be used on a daily basis. In our classroom, the students are encouraged to explore in our Learning Areas. Some of our areas are Blocks, Housekeeping, Writing Area, Art Center, Reading, Puzzles, a Sensory Table and Water Table. The Alphabet materials will allow students to develop mastery in this area and also enhance their communication skills. Furthermore, it will help the children to become early readers with more exposure to the alphabet. The Alphabet kits will be utilized by all of our students in various ways each and every day. The Writing Center materials will offer our students a place to work in a well organized space. It will also help them develop mastery of their handwriting skills.
The donations from our "Hands-On Learning For Academic Achievement" project will make such a difference in our classroom in so many ways and for many years to come!
Not only will these donations allow our students to achieve mastery in letter-naming and handwriting, but also phonemic awareness as well as in other academic areas. It will also allow students to embrace their creative side and use their imaginations to explore and learn in new and innovative ways.
