My Students

I am a teacher in the Mandarin Immersion program. My students are 4-5 years old. Most of the students do not speak Mandarin at home. Some of them are ready to read while some are struggling with recognizing letters and numbers. But what they have in common is that they are eager to learn: whether its Chinese culture or alphabet. They are like the sprouts that are soaking up the cultural differences and ready to bloom. I am excited to teach them more and see how much they can grow this year.

My Project

Students at Pre-k level learn best through hands-on experience. Playing with fellow students is a great way to improve their fine motor skills and to practice social skills. I want to provide different projects on a regular basis to keep their hands busy-active hands makes for active minds, after all! My goal is to encourage students to think creatively and to learn how to communicate with their peers constructively in the Dramtic play center.

The kinetic sand and instant snow will be the highlight stations of the center.

The sand provides students a stress-relief and relaxing experience by being able to shape and mold-and it cleans up easily! The instant snow gives students who live in Arizona a chance to feel what Northern states encounter on a seasonal basis. In addition to these two stations, I also would love to provide costumes to my students. The costumes will help students play dress up at the dramatic play center during different theme weeks. These costumes help students to embrace their acting side, teaching them how to take a certain role in a simulated enviroment. Please help my students stay active and busy by funding this project!
