This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is small but mighty! We serve one of the highest population of students with disabilities in our district, but this does not stop our scholars!
Our students are charismatic, hardworking and determined to learn.
Each day students come into the classroom with bigs smiles and lots of questions. They work together as a class community to build character, learn and grow into the best students they can be. My students love to read and make sense of the world around them despite their struggles.
My Project
As a math teacher I often teach at the whiteboard. After modeling a skill of strategy I ask kids to try it on thier own using white board and dry erase makers. My students light up at the opportunity to be "like the teacher" and show their work and possibly get called on to put their work on the "big board". As with most supplies many of our dry erase markers have dried out and we do not have enough white boards for students. These dry erase markers, supplied holders and white boards will empower my students AGAIN. I am hoping to reignite the passion of math and showing your work through the use of dry erase makers and boards.
