My students need 22 exercise balls and 1 air pump to improve balance and core strength as well as increase attention and focus on work.
More and more, children are being asked to sit for longer periods of time. I know as a teacher when I am asked to do the same thing for professional development, I am so fidgety. So why do we expect the children to be able to do it? Seat (exercise) balls will greatly help with the long periods of sitting.
We are a first grade classroom in the heart of our city.
Many of our students are low income and we are a Title One school. There is sometimes little support at home due to a large ELL population. Many of our children only speak English in school.
I am requesting 22 seat (exercise) balls and 1 air pump. Ball seats will increase the core strength in my students. Many have a hard time sitting for long periods of time and these balls give them the ability to bounce and move a bit all while practicing good posture due to the lack of a back on the ball. I feel that it will increase the children's ability to focus and make them more attentive to class work.
I have researched for years having ball seats in my classroom.
I have not been able to convince the administration to buy them for me and past grants for a class set have not been approved. Many classrooms around the US have gotten rid of chairs and replaced entire classrooms with these seats and the results are amazing. Please help me bring this to my classroom to show my school just what a difference seat balls can make. Thank You!
