Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In our class, we are SUPER learners with a wide variety of abilities! We are a first grade, general education class which has 7 language learners with a combined 5 different home languages! We also have students who receive special education services as well as an additional group of students who join us during the day for inclusion!
What makes our class so unique, is the warm, welcoming environment in which everyone cares for and respects one another, no matter their background or abilities.
Our classroom culture allows students to support one another on our learning journey and gives us SUPER powers!
My Project
My diverse class of first-graders is expected to participate in a rigorous curriculum, yet their little 6-year old bodies crave constant movement! Sitting in standard classroom chairs does not allow most students to satisfy the need to wiggle and move, which can interfere with their learning!
Research says that students' physiological needs must first be met before maximum learning can take place.
With options for flexible seating, students can optimize their learning by choosing a seat that best suits their needs and helps them to reach their full learning potential.
