My students will be provided with the best actively engaged learning environment possible. My focus is to provide an "Action-Based Learning" classroom, where we are up and moving creating new brain cells to strengthen our learning.
When we have taken "brain breaks" I have been able to see how their brains recharge and they are able to be fully engaged in their learning.
Every teacher wants to provide their students with a learning experience they will thrive and grow daily. With being physically active while learning, students will be able to do that and be able to have a greater academic improvement through the year.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will give my students an Action-based Learning classroom. An ABL (acting based learning) classroom is where students are not confined to the usual table and desks to do their learning. The students will have the freedom and ability to move while they learn! Studies have proven that having active learning helps reduce stress levels, grows new brain cells, helps develop balance which builds their ability to read, strengthens neural connections, and the part of the brain that coordinates movement is also the part that processes learning. While moving around and learning at the same time they are stimulating their brains in new ways to reinforce their learning.

In our ABL classroom, we are wanting to get different types of seating that allows the students to be physical active while they are at their desks. The different activities they can do while they work are bounce their feet on rubber bands attached to their chairs, balance on an exercise ball, stand at mobile desks, pedal their feet, rock on a wiggle seat, or us a sway board while they work. These different tools have the part of their brain that is controlling their movement to simultaneously processing what they are learning. Since 85% of students are kinesthetic learners, this will give those students who need to be active and moving the opportunity to get their best learning done while they are moving.
