My school has an amazing mix of cultures that give a very global feel to our hallways and classrooms. Our learning community has a variety of learning levels and English proficiency levels throughout each classroom. We have dedicated, hardworking parents, and community members who truly want success for each and every student.
Our students are innovative and creative individuals who are willing to think outside the box to show academic growth.
They approach challenges with a positive attitude and are continually supporting each other in their academic endeavors. Our students are respectful of each other's differences, and embrace the diversity around them.
My Project
I am moving to a lower grade level and am in need of fun and engaging chapter books that students will want to have in their book boxes. Each day students spend over 30 minutes reading independently. They need a variety of books that are interesting and allow students to practice the skills they learn during the mini lesson.
I chose book collections that will have students reaching for the next book in the series.
The "Dragon" series follows a lovable dragon as he embarks on adventures that kids can totally relate to. The "Hello Crabby" series follows a crab as he works to make friends and navigate his feelings. This books are all beginner chapter books which will be stepping stones into the books that many of us love from our childhood.
