My Project

My students attend school virtually. Many are new to virtual schooling because of COVID-19. I am new to the virtual world myself. I have taken on a role to administer AZELLA tests to students all around the state. Since I do not have a traditional classroom, I essentially set one up everywhere I go. This involves a lot of work and a lot of thinking outside the box.

The challenges my students have faced these past few years is unparalleled.

A large number of my students have severe health issues and anxiety about completing AZELLA testing in person. These students are used to schooling from home and they will have to test in a strange place with strangers test proctoring. These materials will help me administer the tests in a safe environment, allow students to be more comfortable and spaced out, and provide them with the materials they need to participate in our 1:1 preparatory sessions. Students will benefit from having access to a safe and secure test environment similar to ones they had access to before COVID-19. Tables, file folders, printer ink and copy paper are necessary items to prepare the tests, give students a space to complete their work, and work in a temporary classroom as opposed to doing class work at a McDonald’s or other public area. These resources will allow me to set up a classroom in their home to conduct prep sessions and ultimately administer the AZELLA tests. I am striving for normalcy in an environment that is anything but normal and my students miss going into a classroom. This allows me to bring the classroom to them!
