My Students

My students come from many diverse backgrounds, without access to a lot of resources to succeed in school. They come because it is their safe place and many want to try and improve their futures.

They work hard to succeed in their classes but reading is a struggle for them.

For many of my students, English isn't their first language. They connect with images and need support in reading English texts.

My Project

Most of my students are learning English through immersion and need extra support in reading. Most history books are pretty dull and can be very difficult for my students to understand. As a history teacher, I love this book and would like to use it to help support my students English development and understanding of history.

This book is concise, uses easy language and is full of colors and visuals; everything my students who are learning English need to help them understand and be successful.

Many times EL students get lost in text, but with the clarity and visuals of this book, I believe they can succeed!
