My students need two tablets to aid in the success and confidence of my English Language Learners, as well as the excitement of a technology enriched classroom!
My students are survivors of unimaginable circumstances, warriors of obstacles, and dreamers of a better life. The majority of my students are refugees and immigrants from the Middle East, coming to America hoping to understand the feeling of freedom.
Students at my school, as well as my classroom have a broad range of ability levels.
Although I am technically a fifth grade teacher, I am also teaching basic addition, spelling, and even English to students who have recently moved here. While the students make tremendous strides in their learning, they often feel embarrassed doing worksheets or reading books that may be at a lower level.
Not only are my students escaping memories unfathomable to you or I, they are now expected to keep up with fellow classmates in a language they may not even know. My goal is for all my students to feel successful in their learning, and know that in this room, they are smart, they are special, and they are loved.
My Project
I am asking for two tablets for students of all levels to use. It is my personal belief that if children have an interest in learning, they will be able to excel even faster- and what better way to learn than using technology? Also, by using the tablet, other students will not know what specific task a child is working on, allowing the lower level student to work at their own pace without feeling as if they are behind.
" We must be the change we want to see in the world"
(-Gandhi).
Let's start by changing the life of a child. Children who feel confident in themselves will be more likely to stand up against drugs, bullying, and many of the other obstacles facing our future generation. Let's motivate, let's inspire, let's shape a future!
