The students at our school come from various backgrounds full of rich culture, loving families, and strong community bonds; but many of them are in need of additional resources to enhance their education experiences. Living in an urban area, the students in this school deal with the constant struggles that accompany life near a city. Violence, poverty, and a lack of resources are among some of the issues that many of our students either experience personally or know of in their community. School is a welcoming place that offers all of our scholars a safe environment to learn and grow, staff that care for them, and opportunities to explore education.
At our school we try our best to create opportunities that do not let limitations or outside issues affect our scholars.
We work hard to give them the very best. With the help of Donorschoose.org we want to expand the resources available to teachers to support students' reading and writing skills.
My Project
A select number of students from Achievement Hall have been chosen by their teachers for their academic rigor and interest in reading to participate in this year's Reading Olympics. These students have demonstrated their commitment to learning, their acceptance of responsibility and overall success this school year. This Spring, students will travel to Philadelphia to compete against other school districts to show their knowledge of 20 children's books. Students will compete in three rounds of questions that require them to pull from memory specific details of each book.

We are in need of two copies of each book from this year’s Reading Olympic book list. In having two copies of each book, students will be able to read with partners and quiz each other on the content of each novel. With many books to read and little time to read them, we are asking for help purchasing paperback copies of these books so that we can get started on our mission as soon as possible!
