Accommodating Different Abilities

Help me give my students headphones. They will be used for testing situations allowing our students with accommodations to cancel background noises and have important information read to them. We will also be using these for computer learning.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Most people take for granted the simple things in life. Many of my students' families struggle to provide basic needs for their kids. This means school supplies are left up to us teachers to provide. When you provide these supplies for multiple grade levels it seems like a never ending cycle.

The inner city kids I work with face hunger, gangs, violence, raising their siblings, poverty, and these are just the most common issues.

It is no surprise they don't have the supplies the need to be successful in the classroom.

My Project

The inclusion team works with students with disabilities. One way we provide our students support is by accommodating their test. 95% of our student have the accommodation to have test read aloud. The headphones will allow students to work independently while still receiving their accommodations.

Our students also receive additional computer based intervention, in which they must listen to directions to preform tasks.

The headphones will be used during this time so not to single them out to their classmates.

It is our goal to have a set of headphones for each of our students that can be used by them only during the Covid 19 pandemic. Keeping our students safe is our highest priority.
