Help me give my students the necessary materials they need in order to be successful this year like sturdy 2" binders will give them much needed space for all their Leader in Me data tracking.
My students (or my kiddos as I often refer to them) love hugs and high-fives, laughter, interactive activities, and, of course, Fortnite dance offs. For many of them, school is an outlet of expression. Within our classroom is where they can fully express themselves through science, math, reading/writing, and art.
Our school is nestled in the heart of a lively city on the west side of Central Florida.
The students who are part of our school environment come from a variety of backgrounds. Many of our families struggle to provide for themselves. Our school strives to be the safe place that our students can come to.
Each child in my classroom (as well as our school) are seen as leaders. They are not just learners, but leaders-in-training. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies for each different learning style. In addition, we also provide education in being an effective leader. Therefore, the students are given opportunities to showcase their leadership skills throughout the year in various ways. It is our belief that change in our community starts right in our classrooms; our children are the future.
My Project
The purpose of student data tracking is for all students to be aware of their current levels, plan a goal of where they want to be, and find a way to be successful. The Leader In Me by Stephen Covey has worked amazingly for our students. However, with the amount of information we are wanting them to track, in addition to their other materials, we are in need of larger binders.
A sturdy 2" binder can make all the difference between a student taking ownership of their learning and feeling left in the dark.
These binders are an essential piece of their learning day. They complete activities in their binders that determine and display their understanding of standards, they track important data, and celebrate the successes they have achieved throughout the year. With adding a few sections to their previous binders, the added space is much needed. I believe that being able to see those celebrations along side the data, will truly increase their belief that they can be successful in school.
In addition, my students will be completing many projects in class this year and they need to be able to print. I purchased a printer specifically for the kids to use in the classroom, but underestimated the amount of ink that I would need for 45 students. I want to be sure that every student has ample opportunity to print the needed materials and supporting documents for their Science Fair Projects and any other projects we complete in class.
The binder rings will be used on their Brag Tag lanyard. This will make it easier for them to display their achievements as well. This is something they get to wear every Friday and is a great way to encourage the students to work towards those small rewards.
