Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with a variety of challenges both in and out of the classroom. Their home lives for many of them are less than desirable. Despite the many challenges they face, they continue to focus on their education. My goal is to teach them their education is a way to better their lives. I as their teacher I feel it is my job to provide them meaningful and engaging lessons daily.
All my students are on free lunch due to the socioeconomic status.
Their economic status often prevents their guardians from buying the extra materials need to create these meaningful educational experiences for all of my students. I am firm believer that these children are more than capable of being successful, when given the right tools, guidance and materials. I am aware I have little control of their lives when outside of my classroom but I strive to create a loving and engaging environment for all my students to help keep them focused on their education.
My Project
In our ever changing world technology is more and more of invaluable tool to students, especially in urban districts. The use of the classroom set of headphones will be used to help differentiate learning for my students when accessing the curriculum.
In a classroom of students with many different needs headphones will allow my students to independently access the curriculum on their computers.
Our current textbook will read aloud to students who struggle due to language or learning disabilities. With the headphones they will be able to work at their own pace on a variety of engaging assignments to improve their skills.
